Bernal Dry Goods Rental is a quiet junior one-bedroom with a downtown SF city view. The first floor of this peaked roof Victorian was a dry goods store in 1900 and converted to an apartment in about 1959. It was renovated in 2022. This sweet, clean unit is approximately 550 square feet with wood floors, a large furnished living area, desk area, bedroom area with a hybrid queen bed, and a small tiled bathroom with shower over tub. The eat-in fully outfitted kitchen was rebuilt in 2024. It has new quartz countertops, new soft-close lower cabinets and drawers, new sink and garbage disposal, stainless electric stove and oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender and a brand-new dishwasher. The apartment has a dedicated stacked washer-dryer unit a few steps from its back door along with a small storage area. The apartment is about a half a flight up from the sidewalk; there are six steps to the front door. Precita Park is a block downhill and Bernal Heights Park open space with running paths and 360 degree views is about a block up the hill. Neighborhood parking is free with no permits required, the Muni 67 bus is on the corner, and BART is about a 10-15 minute walk (or you can take the bus directly to BART). The financial district is only 4 BART stops away and the ride is about 7-8 minutes. Both freeways 101 and 280 are easily accessible. San Francisco General Hospital (Zuckerberg) is within walking distance. In the photo here with the front window downtown view looking North, on the right side you can see a large brick building with a white curved front, that's the General at the foot of Potrero Hill. Sutter Mission Bernal Hospital is a few blocks to the West, also easily walkable from the apartment. While the area is up a hill and fairly residential, the essentials of city life are a block away with a cafe, three restaurants, the park, and a corner store with organic produce and fresh baguettes. A few blocks to the south is Bernal's Cortland street village with cafes, bars, restaurants, the library, Good Life Grocery and many shops. Further south at the foot of the hill you will find the Alemany Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Hipster Valencia Street and its bars, shops and restaurants is a short walk to the North. Mission Street is a few blocks to the West with loads of restaurants, bars and shops too. This unit is a rental unit subject to the San Francisco Rent Ordinance, which limits evictions without just cause, and which states that any waiver by tenant of their rights under the rent ordinance is void as contrary to public policy.
