This is the perfect place to hide away - to work, to sleep, to swim, to relax by the pool or in the jacuzzi - or to retire to after a full day, an afternoon at the beach or an evening of fine dining. If you like to cook, everything is here for you and foodies will love exploring an abundance of five star restaurants within walking distance. Public transport is a five minute walk away but if you prefer a car, you can park it safely off the street. While in the middle of an exciting city, the property offers respite too. The koi pond's water feature drowns out ambient noise and our 32 year old leopard tortoise will remind you to slow down. Scout - our friendly 14 lb, 12 year old poodle chihuahua mix - is loving and well-behaved but will keep her distance if that's your preference. Regarding pet-friendliness, a small, chill dog is probably fine but nothing over 20 lbs please. Right outside your kitchen window is a productive passionfruit vine. Planted next to the sidewalk are blackberries. Across the footpath are fig and olive trees. And you are welcome to share the produce from the kitchen vegetable garden. Depending on the season, some or all of this is available for your enjoyment.

The space

This spacious, breezy apartment is located behind our home, and is secure and fully self-contained. Light and quiet, it features windows on all sides, huge amounts of storage, bamboo flooring (with bedroom carpeting), a separate side entrance, and dedicated off-street parking. The shared pool, jacuzzi and backyard are yours to enjoy, as well as a raised, fenced deck at the front of the property. Neighborhood: New cafes, restaurants, bars and music venues are popping up constantly in Venice. There are leafy walk streets to explore, and frequent buses to take you to Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Culver City, Westwood, downtown or to LAX... or to a light rail station from where you can travel even further afield. When you're done, retreat to your poolside nest. Listen to the waterfall by the koi pond, jump in the pool or jacuzzi, or pull down the blackout blinds and take s nap.
